Troy: Hey, everybody. Troy Champion Plumbing out of Eagan, Minnesota. Another water heater replacement or hot water heater, people like to call them, this one was not producing hot water anymore. We are in St. Paul … Sorry, West St. Paul today putting the water heater in and we see something all too common in some of these older homes with the good old brick chimneys. They just have the venting stuck into the chimney, just stuck in there. It’s not going into a metal liner all the way up and out.

So we’re going to have to bust this open and fix that, get it tied in properly so that it doesn’t continue to decay the rest of the chimney. Lots of little things on this, we’re going to change the gas valve. Has the packing nut on the back, that has to change. We’re going to put a good ball valve for the water valve on it. We’re also redoing the gas line on this one with some soft copper. And like I said, redoing this venting that … It’s not right. It’s got to go through a metal liner the whole way out. So I will chime back in and just, I don’t know, a couple hours.

Well, here we are. The water heater is all up and running. Again, we’re in West St. Paul, Minnesota doing a water heater replacement. You can see where we had to tie our venting in to the stack. We had to bust open the chimney, open that up, put a saddle on it and then we’d cut our water heater off the saddle.
