Replacing Power Vent Water Heater Like A Boss

Power vent water heater replacement in Shakopee! Tanner shows us what happens when the cellular core venting needs to be replaced with a solid core. Code requires us to change this venting to a solid core, and in most cases, it’s a fairly simple process.

Some signs to consider with a failing water heater include discolored water, water buildup around the unit, lukewarm water temperature, strange noises, length of time since repair/replacement.

Tanner: Hello, everybody. Tanner champion plumbing here. Got Matt with us today. We’re doing a power vent replacement. We already got the tank out, but we have to bring some stuff to code. Manufacturer spec, can’t have ABS cellular core anymore.

Unfortunately, it runs straight through the wall, through finished ceiling, goes outside. So we were going to have to cut open the ceiling to get this new piping in.

All right, everybody. Back at it here with this new power rent install, 50 gallons. We’re in Shakopee, Minnesota today. And new heater, all new solid core PVC goes through the ceiling

I will walk you over there to show you what we did. So they did get kind of lucky. It runs through the closet here. So we’re able to do one hole right there and then one hole there, and it goes straight outside from there.

So if you need water heater replacement, call Champion Plumbing, 651-365-1340.
