Troy: Hello, Troy. Champion Plumbing, Eagan, Minnesota. I’m here with Sebastian, got a water heater put in, in Bloomington and there was a bunch of additional stuff that had to be done to bring this one up to code and I’ll let Sebastian talk about what he did.

Sebastian: All right, Sebastian here, Champion Plumbing based out at Eagan. So like Troy mentioned we did have a lot of additionals here. We just installed a basic 40-gallon gravity vent water heater, 40 gallons tall. We had three, four or five additionals. One would be this gas valve here. It’s got a solid back here, no packing nut on the back. Simple quarter-turn valve, water valve here, another ball valve, quarter-turn valve. Replaced the gate valve that they had before cause those are the ones that lock up pretty easy. Another additional is going to be this vent connect here. This is four-inch. Currently, before the install, it was three-inch. We are not allowed to have three-inch anymore. So I had to upgrade that. The other additional, it’s kind of hard to see. It’s going to be the firestop. So that is basically a piece of sheet metal wraps around the [inaudible 00:01:15] or the floorboard there before the stack goes through the roof.

Troy: And the firestop does just that. It prevents … if a fire should break out down here. It prevents the fire from running up the chase of the stack and getting into your attic and engulfing the house quick. So could save you two or three minutes. A very important code upgrade to have.

Sebastian: Yep. And the last one would’ve been the roof cap, but it’s a little snowy today, so we’re going to have to return for that in the spring.

Troy: You don’t want to go up on the roof in the snow?

Sebastian: No.

Troy: Me neither.

Sebastian: But other than that this is the new 40-gallon gravity vent water heater. All the additionals here, again Champion Plumbing based out at Eagan. If there’s any questions give us a call 651 365 1340.
