Troy: Hi, hello, this is Troy with Champion Plumbing. I’m with Cole today. We’re actually at our shop, we had a customer that had a low-water pressure issue and we’d advised them that probably taking the aerator off rather than sending a plumber could save them a service call. So we’re going to just show you real quick at our office how you take off the aerator. On most faucets, you can just grab a hold of it and turn it and inside the aerator, there’s just a bunch of little springs. Oh, not springs, sorry. A bunch of little, what’d you call it, Cole?
Cole: Screens. Filtering screens that catch the sediment.

Troy: Yep. So if you’re having low-water pressure to the hot and the cold coming out of a faucet, a lot of times you can just do what Cole is going to do here, take it apart, get some of the debris, the calcium, anything that’s coming through that these… You can see how fine the screen is there. I mean, it’s tiny, so anything can clog that thing up. So you take it off, you clean it out and you just screw it back on. Most of them are just hand-tight. There are some models that have a special tool to take them out. They would come with the faucet when you got the faucet.

Cole: Some customers use those jar openers too to get better grip on them.

Troy: Like the little rubber handle?

Cole: Yep. You can use the pliers but you might damage it but if you got a new one handy then so be it or, once you take it off, you can soak it in vinegar for a while.

Troy: That’s a good idea.

Cole: And that will clean it out too and you can re-use it.

Troy: True. All right, so we’re going to show you a couple of different faucets that we have.

All right, so we’re back on with our faucet aerator video. Here’s a bunch of different faucets, kitchen faucets and lav faucets that all have… Here’s this tool, Cole, you want to show them the… That comes with some of these fancier faucets and you just put it in and turn it to get the aerator out. They do sell multi-tools, so if you don’t have it, you can usually go on Amazon or something and find the right tool to get it out. But the same thing here, you just take the aerator out, you clean it out, get those really fine screens cleaned up and you put it back together. Everything here is hand-tight. You don’t use a wrench. They got rubber washers on them so they seal up real good. Anything about aerators you want to add, Cole?

Cole: Well, I mean, that’s kind of the basics of them.

Troy: Yeah.

Cole: Sometimes if you think you got that cleaned out, some of these pull-down sprayer heads will come off and there could be something in the metal screen there also.

Troy: Oh right, good call.
Cole: Some manufacturers if you get in touch with them, you can actually email them and they can send you out some new parts or ahead. All our faucets are a 100-year warranty. If you have an issue like that with one of ours, we’ll just come out and take care of what part needs-

Troy: Hold on. Did I hear you right? A 100-year warranty?

Cole: A 100-year warranty, correct.

Troy: One hundred years.

Cole: On finish, defects or anything like that, we’ll get the new part, or if we have to, if the finish is bad, we’ll just go ahead and take the whole faucet off and bring a new one out.

Troy: That’s awesome. That’s unheard of. So that’s good to know. So if you have a low-water pressure, if you need to clean your aerators, this video will help you do it.
